Miss Likklemore’s restaurant review

Y’all know I love my birthday. It’s the one day of the year where I want to be spoiled, and spoil myself.

So my bestie and I, who’s a taurean as well, decided to dine at Miss Likklemore’s to celebrate our birthdays.  #taurusseason

I was a little hesitant about going because I really didn’t want to be let down. I’ve heard about this restaurant for so long, and I really wanted it to live up to the hype.

Did it?

Yes, it did. I absolutely enjoyed my time at this restaurant. Loved the space, the vibe, the spicy island smells that filled the restaurant, and loved the DJ (he immensely added to the ambience. Thanks for taking me on a hiphop, soca, and dancehall infused trip down memory lane ).

Let me tell y’all about my meal.

The appetizer

Salt cod fritters

It is similar to a crab cake, but made with salt cod, and it’s smaller in size.

Yum.  That’s really all I can say. It was yum. It was salty, crispy and full of seafood flavour. I would like to eat about 20.

Likkle Patties

Appetizer sized Jamaican patties. Spiced ground beef covered in a flaky crust.

They were good, nicely seasoned, and not too filling.

Main *please note that the the dishes are a la carte – you need to order the sides separately – they are not included in the dish.

Slow braised Oxtail

Yep, I didn’t hold back, I got the oxtail. I didn’t want to get chicken or anything that I can eat anywhere, I needed the oxtail. It was my birthday after all!

It was tender, fell right off the bones. It was a flavour bomb. It was FANTASTIC. Loved it so much that I saved some to take home. I needed another day to savour the flavour. This was a good choice.

Sides

Mac Pie

This isn’t the whole slice. I ate some before I took the pic! lol

I actually wanted rice and peas to go with the oxtail but it wasn’t on the menu, so I got the Mac pie. Was it as good as my mom’s???  Yes, it was.  Lol.

This creamy macaroni pie was oozing with cheese and yumminess. I plan on ordering it again on my return. The slice is kinda big, so you might want to share.

Dessert

Miss Paula’s Carrot Cake

I’m not a huge fan of carrot cake. When I choose dessert, it’s usually something chocolate, but since my bestie and I were celebrating our birthdays, I let her pick dessert – we decided to share a slice because we ate a week’s worth of food in one sitting!

Another winner! I loved the moistness, the tanginess of the cream cheese filling – it was fantastic.  I demolished my portion and came close to having my friend’s crumbs. Don’t worry, I didn’t.

Would I go back?

Nothing would hold me back. I’m going back! I will say that it is pricey, but when I want to treat myself to good food and nice vibes, I’m there!
