Now that I’m in full social butterfly mode, I made plans to meet up with my bestie for brunch.
My BFF and I aren’t shy when it comes to dining out – we tend to order everything on the menu. No lie detected!
She asked me a few weeks ago where I wanted to go and I basically left it up to her. She chose Patois– a hip Jamaican-Chinese resto that we’ve been to before, but it’s been YEARS since we’ve been back.
I looked at the brunch menu beforehand (because I like to know what my options are) and I liked everything I saw. The brunch menu was NOT stingy. All the specials were fully loaded meals. Even I didn’t think my bestie and I could attack all that food!
We ordered the Whole Sh-Brunch – feast for 2.
We had rice and peas, Patois egg benny with salad, 2 pieces of O.G. fried chicken, Trini Macaroni pie, 2 butterfly shrimp rundown, Honey and Maggi beef short ribs, waffles (*substituted – it was supposed to come with Hong Kong style French toast, but it’s made with peanut butter and I’m allergic).
Sounds like a lot, right? It was. But we ate most of it. We couldn’t tackle everything so we had some to go.
Everything was spectacular, but I will share with you my absolute faves.

Trini Macaroni Pie
My background is Trini and I have NEVER EVER had a macaroni pie as rich and delicious as this one. No disrespect to anyone in my family who has made this, but this macaroni pie was beyond moist, cheesy, and the perfect texture. I will make a special trip to get it again. It is well worth it.
O.G. Fried Chicken
I’ve eaten their fried chicken before and loved it. I was curious to see if it was still as tasty as it was before.
Um, yeah, it was crazy tasty! You’ll never go wrong ordering it. Trust me.
Patois Eggs Benny
I love eggs – boiled, scrambled, in an omelet, and fried, but I never really tried eggs Benedict (don’t judge me!).
It was included in the brunch menu and I chose not to tell my bestie that I wasn’t sure I’d like it. But…..it did come served on a Jamaican patty, so I thought I’d eat the patty and take a tiny taste of the eggs.
Okay, so I enjoyed….a lot. It wasn’t too runny, or eggy. It was nice and spicy paired with the flaky patty. I would order this again.
Honourable Mention
I can’t remember the name of the drink (perhaps I drank it too quickly! Lol) – it was in honour of# Burnaboy performing in Toronto, but it was rum infused, lemony yumminess.
Brunch at Patois was unforgettable. The food, the great music, and great vibes. Can’t wait to visit it again!
