Yep, those relentless commercials for the frozen PC Black Label pizza have finally worn me down. I’ve seen those commercials a million times and it eventually entered my subconscious. I had to try it! (I guess advertising works.)
To be honest, I don’t really buy frozen pizza – I much rather make my own from scratch, but I wanted to taste the latest addition to the PC Black Label and see how it stacks up to a couple of other PC products that I adore (the pancake mix and scone mix are always stocked in my pantry). It only costs $7.99, so I thought it was worth a try.
There are 3 pizzas in the collection – the Diavola, the Funghi, and the Margherita. I chose the Diavola because I’m a carnivore and it’s the only one that had meat, and I need to have meat on my pizza.
The Diavola is advertised as having a thin, crispy crust, with Italian tomato sauce, Ventricina salami, smoked provola cheese, and red onion. Sounds tempting, eh?
I tried this style of pizza in Italy about 5 years ago, and I wanted to see if it was as delicious as I remember. Yes, I know that’s asking a lot from a frozen pizza!
While the pizza was baking, the house smelled like an authentic pizzeria. I could smell the pungent cheese and the spicy sausage. I couldn’t wait to devour a slice.
When the pizza was finished baking it looked scrumptious (*only takes 16 mins to bake), but it could’ve done with a little more salami (just saying).

I sliced it up and had a few for dinner.
What I thought
To be completely honest, I thought it was good, but not incredible. The crust was good, but way thinner than what I’m used to.
I expected the salami to be super spicy, but it wasn’t. It had a little kick to it in the beginning, but it quickly went away.
I will admit that it could be that I’m comparing this pizza to the Diavola pizza that I had in Italy. Which isn’t very fair because everything tastes better in Italy!
I will say that it is decent for a frozen pizza – I appreciated that it didn’t taste bland, freezer burned or cardboard-like. It tasted fresh and full of flavour. But the best part of the pizza was the crust. It actually retained its crispiness. I had it for lunch the following day, and it was still crunchy.
I guess the only downfall is that I am used to pizza loaded with meat, cheese, mushrooms and yes, even pineapple (please don’t send me hate mail. Pineapple belongs on pizza). This pizza is pretty minimalistic in that there aren’t a lot of toppings. The red onion unfortunately was barely noticeable – so unnoticeable that I almost forgot to mention it.
Overall, it is an okay pizza. I would give it a 7/10.
Did you try this pizza? Let me know what you thought about it.
